Pah, pah, pah, pow! Oh, that’s the sound of the box office blowing up. Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker just hit theaters and it’s a mega success. Though Kansas City’s very own famed voiceover artist Tom Kane did not return to this movie as Yoda, the franchise has featured his voice in years past and proves what an incredible impact Kansas City-area artists have on both the major—and independent—movie industry.

LONITA COOK is a member of the Kansas City Film Critics Circle. She contributes to the lifestyle show, “Better KC”, on KCTV 5 (CBS affiliate) and IN Kansas City Magazine. She merrily serves on the boards of the Johnson County Arts & Heritage Museum Foundation, Film Society KC, and Avila School of Visual and Communication Arts (Advisory). One of her favorite things is advocating for filmmakers and being there when their dreams come true.
