A lifelong fascination with the Missouri River prompted author Patrick Dobson to canoe down the river from its source waters back home to Kansas City, a trip documented in his new book Canoeing the Great Plains. Dobson shares stories and stunning photos from his expeditions and explores the history of this vital American waterway. His talk will be followed by a Q & A, and copies of his book will be for sale.

The irreverent and completely hilarious Jen Mann is coming back to the Story Center, and this time to launch her newest book – Spending the Holidays with People I Want to Punch in the Throat. This follow-up to last year’s New York Times best-seller People I Want to Punch in the Throat hits shelves the same day. Her talk on both of her collections, inspiration, process, and not killing family members at Christmas will be followed by a Q & A, and copies of her newest book will be for sale.

Author Jeff Guinn has built a career in all areas of the writing world. He worked as a journalist and now makes his way as the author of fiction and non-fiction. His newest book will transport readers to the Western landscape. His talk on his most recent book will be followed by a Q & A, and copies of his book Buffalo Trail will be for sale.

Jen Mann returns to the Story Center for her next installment of tips for aspiring authors. As a blogger, Mann had a post go viral. That was the beginning of her career. She went from there to self-publishing to a contract with Random House to the New York Times best-sellers list. Now, she has two self-published collections and two traditionally published collections, and is still maintaining a robust blog. And – she will teach you how to do the same.
