Join Us For “Critics vs. Oscars Free-For-All” On January 23, 2013!

See up to 90 minutes of trailers for this season’s Oscar-nominated films and get Oscar picks from a feisty panel of Kansas City’s top movie critics, when CinemaKC presents “Critics vs. Oscars Free-For-All” on Wednesday, Jan. 23, at the Screenland Crossroads Theatre, 1656 Washington St.

Trailers for Oscar-nominated films in all major categories will begin screening at 7 p.m., interspersed with impassioned reactions and clashing Oscar picks from an impressive assemblage of local film critics and aficionados.

Come and compare your Oscar predictions to those of the experts – or simply crib from former longtime Kansas City Star Movie Editor Robert Butler; WDAF-TV Fox 4 Film Critic Shawn Edwards; Kansas City Star Contributing Movie Reviewers Loey Lockerby and Jon Niccum; movie bloggers Erin Melin and Ryan Davis; freelance entertainment reviewer Marie Asner; and Jack Poessiger of “Jack Goes to the Movies” on Time Warner Cable. (Stay tuned for more participating critics.)

And that’s not all: Members of the movie-mad public are invited to weigh in with the critics in a pre-screening mixer at 6 p.m. Agree! Disagree! Analyze! Dissect! Just try not to spill your drink.

A donation of $10 is requested to support CinemaKC in its efforts to serve the movie community in 2013.
