CinemaKC LEGACY SERIES DEBUTS IN 2018

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (March 13, 2018) – CinemaKC, a non-profit organization which spotlights films and filmmakers in the Kansas City area, will partner with sponsor KC Film Office at VisitKC, to present the CinemaKC Legacy Series: classic feature films with Kansas City locations, cast and crew. The screening series will be a reunion of personnel who worked on the projects, as well as an opportunity to introduce new audiences to the big screen experience.
The first film in the CinemaKC Legacy Series is Kansas City, by Robert Altman, starring Jennifer Jason Leigh, Harry Belafonte, and a who’s who of notable actors and musicians. It will screen on Sunday, June 10, 2018, at 3:30 p.m. at the Screenland Medallion Theatre at Plexpod Westport Commons, located at 300 E. 39th Street in Kansas City, Mo. Prior to the screening, at 2:15 p.m., VIP ticket holders will enjoy live jazz music at a VIP jazz reception, co-sponsored by KC Jazz ALIVE and GreenLadyRadio.com at The Sundry in Plexpod Westport Commons.
Preceding the screening, those who worked on or otherwise had an association with the film will share anecdotes in an open forum. The screening will be followed by a Q&A discussion with special guests. Bobby and Dana Altman, family members and Kansas City production members, will attend and participate.
“The film series is an opportunity for a whole new generation to experience these great, classic films, all shot right here in the Kansas City area, and a chance for friends to reunite,” said CinemaKC President, Rick Brook. “It’s exactly the kind of thing CinemaKC exists to do.”
“These films are some of our best examples of how a production and a city can synthesize to produce highly visible projects together, elevating our destination and the professional experience for our workforce,” said Steph Scupham of the KC Film Office. “It is what we are hoping to do a lot more of in Kansas City.”
