“Article 99”, a CinemaKC Legacy Series Screening with VIP Jazz Reception

November 9, 2018 @ 5:30 pm - 9:30 pm

$10 – $25

CinemaKC proudly presents Article 99, the second offering in its Legacy Series, in partnership with the KC Film Office at Visit KC. This series of public screenings of classic films promotes work created in the region with Kansas City locations, cast and crew. The upcoming November 9 event will be a reunion of personnel who worked on the high profile project, as well as an opportunity to introduce new audiences to the big screen experience.

Article 99 is a 1992 film that takes a critical look at how military veterans were treated in a V.A. hospital. A dedicated staff of doctors work to bend the tyranny of the egregious “Article 99” rule so as to care for their patients. It’s subject matter that is still relevant.

Created by director Howard Deutch and starring Keifer Sutherland, Lea Thompson, and Ray Liotta, Article 99 will screen Friday, November 9 at 7:00 p.m. at the Screenland Medallion Theatre at Plexpod Westport Commons, located at 300 E 39th Street in Kansas City, Mo.. Prior to the screening, VIP ticket holders will enjoy live jazz music at a VIP jazz reception at 5:30 p.m., sponsored by the Jazz for Good Foundation with the Danny Peete Group.

Tickets are at Eventbrite. $10 suggested donation for the Open Forum, Film Screening, and Q&A at 7:00 p.m. and $15 for the VIP Jazz Reception at 5:30 p.m..

Additional Sponsors: – JAZZ for Good Foundation  –   Screenland Medallion Theatre at Plexpod Westport Commons – Screenland Real Estate Services – Jenny Hahn –  Film Society KC and special thanks to John and Naomi Shipp
