SUMMARY:CINEMA KC PRESENTS "GANGLAND WIRE" AT SCREENLAND CROWN CENTER
DESCRIPTION:  \n \nCinema KC presents “Gangland Wire”\, Gary Jenkins just released third feature length documentary film. The film documents the rise and fall of Kansas City’s River Quay district\, the investigation of which exposed Mafia influence over the Teamsters International Union and Las Vegas casinos. During his tenure with the Kansas City\, Missouri Police Department\, Gary was assigned to this  investigation from 1978-1980. \nRetired Intelligence Unit detective Gary Jenkins found audio tapes labeled “Strawman” deep in the bowels of a government archive. He discovered the voices of KC mob boss Nick Civella\, underboss Carl “Tuffy” DeLuna\, Chicago mob captain Joseph “Joey the Clown” Lombardo\, among others. These tapes tell how the Midwest La Cosa Nostra Families lost control of Las Vegas casinos. \nGangland Wire\, using first hand witnesses\, tells the real story behind the fictional story told in the popular film\, Casino. A dispute over parking rights in Kansas City’s River Quay entertainment district led the F.B.I. and the Kansas City Police Intelligence Unit down a path of dead bodies and bombed buildings. At the end of theis path\, investigators found evidence leading ot the convictions of La Cosa Nostra boses in Milwaukee\, Chicago\, Cleveland and Kansas City. The Strawman tapes tell this story. \n– See more at: http://ganglandwire.com/about/#sthash.5ojbd6wo.dpuf

Also featured will be imaginative animators from Hallmark Cards\, Inc. \nThe sole production company to be spotlighted this season will be Through a Glass Productions (although some of the show’s filmmaker guests have their own production companies\, including Never2Late Productions\, Inversion and Hidden District Studios). \nBehind the scenes\, “CinemaKC” is again partnering with such highly regarded local production services as Outpost Worldwide\, Wheeler Audio and Take 2 Productions\, which will continue to generate the show’s award-winning opening title sequence. Other key players returning to the show’s creative team include director Larry Garrett and supervising producer Linda Wiedmaier.      \n “‘CinemaKC’ makes the greater Kansas City area aware of a vibrant artistic community that is perhaps a secret to many residents\,” Wiedmaier says. “Most everyone watches movies on a regular basis\, so it’s exciting to share the news that people who make movies and other media live right here in the KC area. \n“We hope that increased awareness of the film community can lead to increased support from the community at large and\, in turn\, help expand the film community’s national profile\, which can get the notice of global media companies” \nLooking to the future\, Rapp adds: “There are so many aspects of our filmmaking community to explore and this is only thebeginning. We already are thinking about seasons four and five!” \nPLEASE NOTE: CinemaKC will be repeating our Thursday broadcast beginning Sunday Oct. 13th at 5PM on KCPT Channel 19.
