CinemaKC Showcases the KU Film & Media Studies Department

We’re happy to announce that we will host the KU Film & Media Studies Department Showcase on April 14 at 7:30pm at the Screenland Crown Center. The showcase will feature the work of KU Film and Media Studies students such as the award-winning documentary, “Poeta.” The program includes a mixer at 6:30pm followed by the screenings and a Q&A with filmmakers starting at 7:30pm.

The films featured include: “Back 2 School: Gnome More Funny Business,” about a garden gnome’s first day back at KU; “The Nuclear Standard,” a seemingly “perfect” 1950’s family ends up facing a very different reality; “The Littlest Ones: A Dogumentary,” an award-winning documentary about people and programs who help care for unwanted dogs and puppies; “Critical Mass: 719,” after the zombie apocalypse, zombies aren’t the only things to fear. This award-winning short was written, shot (on the RED ONE camera), and edited in just seven days. Also, “The Photographer,” a short, still-photography-based documentary exercise; “The Amplesand” shot on 35mm film. “The Amplesand” is an experimental film and a meditation on legends of the past, brought into the modern day. “My Lucky Stars,” a music video featuring special effects by Derek Sellens will also be shown.

Tickets are $8, and available at www.screenland.com or at the door. Tickets for KU students with I.D. are free and IFC-KC members are $5.
